ATRIS Data Analysis and Processing Tool (ADAPT) Software
The ATRIS Data Analysis and Processing Tool (ADAPT) is a custom software package designed to complement the Along Track Reef Imaging System (ATRIS). ADAPT’s graphical user interface (GUI) provides easy access to the imagery and associated data collected on an ATRIS mission. ADAPT also incorporates a command-line interface that provides powerful and flexible tools for more in-depth work. At the GUI’s core is an image browser. This tool displays the images captured by the ATRIS camera from a mission day, with the images sequenced by acquisition time. Associated data is displayed along with the image, including acquisition time, Global Positioning System (GPS) location, post-processed submerged topography, distance from camera to image, and the image’s physical dimensions. The images can be browsed one at a time in sequence, or played through automatically at various speeds to simulate a video interface. The software’s “Plotting Tool” allows the user to select and display several kinds of geographic data to better visualize the locations of each image, such as the vessel’s track line(s), coastline outlines, and georectified imagery. The location of each image can be interactively plotted on the vessel track. Conversely, the user can advance the image browser by selecting a specific location on the vessel track. Interpretation of benthic habitat in ATRIS images is facilitated by ADAPT’s “Classification Tool”. This tool can be customized to display any list of desired classification categories. Then, a category can be selected for each image while browsing through the dataset. The resulting benthic classification can be exported in a variety of formats with associated image location and submerged topography information. |
